By the way. . . I feel Kind of detached and disappointed. When we make posts we are not always aiming to be your news source, For the most party we seek to have a conversation with our Courtiers. [WE DON"T SEE YOU AS BLOG FOLLOWERS, BUT AS FRIENDS TO CONVERSE WITH].

In a Royal Court the Monarchs have their constituents, friends, and family surrounding them on a day to day basis. (cuz there wasn't much do back then when you were a king) . So it was an ongoing party where people kicked with the royal family and talked about stuff all day.

So for the past month we see your numbers in the matrix, but we don't see YOU talking to us. Take a look at our posts for the past few weeks the majority of them have 0 comments.

I've worked for about 2 hours on this dress and Haven't sewed a thing! (It's all cut and Pinned together) I got the shape I was going for, but I lost my path when it came to the placement of the zipper and the connection between the Bodice, peplum and then to the skirt.

I thought because I knew how to cut this shape out just by thinking about it that I would be able to sew it easily and make a few more for the show next week. . . It just might not be happening.

I stumbled upon this video by OK GO. I really like it because in middle school I have been on a team that created one of these " Energy Transfer Contraptions". I was (and still am) a big science geek. An energy transfer contraption competition challenges students to use inventions to transfer from one energy source to another in order to reach a goal.

In the case of this video the goal is to spray the Band Members with Paint.

Notice how the energy can be as light as pouring water to as powerful as bowling balls and cars.

So every now and again I take time out to just search the web with no real goal in mine. Brace yourself because this post goes out to all the cats who buy an outfit for that night to wear to the club and wear it throughout the week until the next club session. I know who you are (don't fux with me). Working retail can be a trip sometimes especially dealing with the every-day customer that smells like booty and weed. I ask myself every time I work on the weekend "Why are you buying expensive ass clothes when your armpits smell like a whole order of pork fried rice with extra egg and sprouts??!!" Come on fam...I know you can smell yourself...and let's not mention the weed in your pocket. I think cats like to carry around weed to make themselves seem like a threat (i don't get it), but majority of the cats who come through reek of cannabis. I would think they would at least bathe but they have to have the latest fusions before anything! (Yes...Jordan fusions...because Retros do not sale anymore, but I will save the Jordan sneaker talk for another post because this is strictly for my poor D boys). I'm not dissing anyone at all because they are dissing themselves smelling like that. At times i see these cats in the mall...not buying anything...just scalping for chicks. Not a good look but I heard you can find a winner at the mall (lowkey hood chick). You can always tell club clothes from regular clothes. Here is an example:

Yesterday, I was cruising down the street lanes in my whip (ha!) listening to Late Registration (my FAVE Kanye album). Usually I sing-a-long to every song because I actually know the words to most of it and singing-a-long makes the trip to your destination much shorter. Somehow, I got into the zone around track 16 which is titled "Hey Mama". Instead of singing along, I truly took the time out of my safe-traveling experience to truly enjoy the meaning to the song. Of course, Kanye is speaking of his relationship with his mother (by the way, this song means a lot because he wrote this song BEFORE his mom passed away...alive and well...always the best time to show your love for someone), but a LOT of it relates to me and how I feel about my mother. And guess what my a$$ started to do??...........I started crying!!! WTF!!??!! I haven't cried on a song since '91 (true story....I used to cry to some sappy Christmas song at the age of 4. I was weird). After I realized I was crying, I started to laugh at myself for being a sappy bum. I think I must have embarrassed myself (the people in the cars next to me probably thought that I was having an emotional breakdown...menopause at the age of 22...break downs and ish). but ANYwhooo...after I stopped thinking that i was a rah-tard, I realized that I had a reason to at least drop a small tear (I only had like 2 tears throughout this process). The reason is:

I FREAKING LOVE MY MOMMY!!!

I am one lucky mamma jamma. BELEE DAT! My mommy is goofy just like me, funny, weird (a good weird), has nice jewelery (random quality but who cares), helps with funds, gets on my nerves at times (but that just proves we are normal and our souls are not possessed or nuthin' like that), has a crush on Mos Def and Common (at least i think so), laughs at things in church that are not supposed to be funny, does not try to be cool and wear Air Force 1s, looks younger than her age, still will wrestle me, gets manis/pedis every week, drives a Jeep Commander, likes to go bowling and has her own bowling shoes and 2 balls even though she is not a professional, has 3 weirdos for kids, knows how to work the Wii, plays Bingo at home for money, cheats when playing Scrabble (you are not supposed to look at the dictionary if you want to be a legit winner in Scrabble...it's just not fair), drinks Malibu rum with pineapple juice, says "easy greasy" as a salutation when we get off the phone, lets me eat in the living room with the cream carpet, takes pictures with crackheads because the crackhead's sign is funny (click HERE for proof!!), and there's so much more but I would take over the Made Monarchs blog with my antics alone and I love my fellow Monarchs so I will not go thus far. Just know i looooveee my mama.

See how that works?..Even your very own best friend wouldn't condone that. What's really crazy about the whole thing is, not only is he killing people in their sleep but it's the way he kills them. Cutting there heads off, stabbing them in the back, chopping chicks tits off (not really but most of the chicks he kill are always naked.) When you are sleeping and having a quality dream, you don't know what's going to happen, but you sure as hell don't think you will be slashed! Still I think I bring up a very good point about this so-called hardcore killer from Elm Street. Fuk yo set fool! I bet he couldn't mess with the crackheads from Grand Ave (hoodest street in St. Louis) in their sleep. They would go crack pipe on his ass. My point is.....if you are going to kill someone, and you are this insane killer that wears a Cosby sweater from hell, at LEAST have the balls to attempt to kill while they are awake watching American Idol or something...not when they just got done smashing a big ass fish platter from Captain Ds and have the "itis" (click here to find out what "itis" means).

Twiggy & Sleepovers

So the picture up above is me around the age of 7 or 8 bout to head to the Christmas Program at church to say the speech that I practiced oh so hard and long for. The rest of the post will be about me in the 7th grade...*blank face*...nothing to do with the picture up above...but this was the only picture that I could find on the web that gave you a sense of my youth. In case you are trying to imagine what I look like in the 7th grade for the remainder of the post, just look at the picture up above, color me in a tad bit browner (just a tad), add a couple inches of height, scratch the dress, and grow my hair out and you have the 12-year-old Twiggy. Any questions???....oook...let's go.

My friends and I happen to randomly talk about our childhoods around lunch time (I don't know what it is...it's like the word "lunch" cues childhood memories). But ANYwhooo, somehow, it got on the subject of sleepovers. I use to be a big fan of sleepovers as a child because I wanted to show my childhood friends that I had a fun house with a cool a$$ mom. A show-off if I must say (luckily, that characteristic has deteriorated but I like to say that I show-off modestly these days). If you are unaware, getting a group of girls together (regardless of age), may result in abandoned friendships, injuries, or whatever else you want to choose from the list. I have been a cute tomboy since I got to pick out my own clothes, so those things that most girls get upset over didn't quite occur with me. The first time I can remember being mad at some chicks at a sleepover was because they were cheating while we were playing "Red Light Green Light" (I believe in winning fair and square and if you have to cheat to surpass me, you ain't nuthin' but a SUCKA!) Besides all of that nonsense, my sleepovers have been in the clear......

UNTIL....

I had a sleepover with 2 of my girl friends in the 7th grade. This was the smallest sleepover I have had in my life and turned out to be the worst....ain't that a biznitch! I will NOT put out the names of these individuals because I have realized that even events that happened years ago still affect the soul....and um...I don't want anyone's soul to be affected. So for the sake of hearts, I will call the individuals 'Tee and Jee' throughout the post. Tee is skinny and Jee is fat.

This story is not long, and I will get straight to the point. What is crazy is that only ONE of these chicks ruined the sleepover and caused me to permanently delete sleepovers from my list of "joy". Jee is the cause. (GOT DAMMIT JEE! I probably could have gotten a couple more years of sleepovers in! I just realized that.) ANYwhooo...me, Tee, & Jee were having a grand ol' time doing our sleepover things....trading Pokemon cards, playing streetball, and even got some Barbie time in. Midnight hit and we had made it to the TV to watch those scary movies that you look at now to be a disgrace...but back then they gave you the creeps. Me and Tee were sitting in the TV room frightened from a scene in the movie when I realized that Jee had been missing for quite awhile. Me and Tee searched the house and found Jee knocked out on the floor in my room. Me and Tee laugh instantly...ready to crash her face with the historic toothpaste prank...but we decide to let her get good and sleep before we execute the plan....so we go for snacks. Joyfully, I open the cabinet and look for all of the goodies that my mama had bought for us....Hmm....couldn't find them. I search the other cabinet...2 bags of chips. Next stop...the fridge...2 juices!! Where are my muthasuckin' snacks at?! We had way more than this! Then I hear Tee say quietly, "umm....Jhonna....check out the trash." Can you BELIIEEVVVEE that in the trash can there were tons of chip and candy bar wrappers and juice boxes EMPTY?!" Me and Tee look at each other and instantly run back up to my room to search Jee for evidence. Lo and behold, there by Jee's hand was a half-eaten bag of Doritos. WTF!!!! This fat a$$ seriously ate up all my snacks!!!....These snacks were for 3 people and she smashed a good 85% of it!! I was through. I woke Jee up and told her that both her and Tee had to get the hell up outta here in the morning.

I just spent the last week in Austin, TX at a conference. I got to parle with the black leaders of every big school across the nation. (more posts on that soon).

But by night fall I was preparing myself for MARCH 13th! (Come get diverted). The STL "swag" is based in the southern "Jig", and I was able to witness it in the party as UMSL, MIZZOU, and KC got it in with LU, OCU, OU . . . etc.

I'm not going to go by the infamous "SNEAKER HEAD" title. To be honest, I'm just a regular N*GGA that likes sneakers and cops that ILL $hit. Of course most of the sneakers I cop are "OVERLY HYPED"... "NEW SHIT"... "RETROS", but I can honestly say SO F*CKING WHAT! I wasn't able to get half....naw f*ck that....MOST of the stuff I own now because my parents wouldn't support the cost. Don't get me wrong..I was always into sneakers. Knowing the history behind them and all.
My first pair of Jordans were the blue/white 15s...PROBABLY THE WORST ONES EVER!...But I had to get them off the strength they were J's and I had my own money for them. Little did I know (or gave a f*ck), they were to damn small, but I copped anyway because I knew I couldn't afford a men's size 7 so I made that 6 work like a mother f*cker. I remember the first day I wore those shits (memory lane time): I laid my FUBU fit out on the bed (my brothers shit...I had to stunt though. BIG AS F*CK TOO!). Long sleeve FB shirt with the signature on the chest and the matching sweats! DAMN I WAS GEARED! #hoodshit (f*ck what you think..FUBU was the sh*t back then and if you owned some you were the shit). Man let me tell you..all the little hunnies was swinging AND I had a pager! DAMN!!!! Come on son...you can't tell me I wasn't the freshest n*gga in 6th grade. Man them shits were so tight on my feet, but I had to keep my cool walk...didn't want to f*ck up my fresh. That same day, knowing that I had no troubles coming my way, I forgot I had gym class #fail. Man I had no clothes to dress out in at all and I for damn sure wasn't gone jump around in my Js. I had to compromise. I walked into the locker room knowing I didn't have my gym clothes but I still made it seem like I did. I went up to my locker (empty as f*ck). "Damn what to do?" I asked my white homie Kyle did he have any extra clothes, and all he had was some dirty ass long asics running joints (white dudes buy their shoes big as hell and tie the strings tight as hell #randomfact) So I couldn't mess with Kyle. Who could I ask next?...hmm...my dude Shane Dotson. This white boy was a fucking giraffe. Long as shit and skinny as the candy cane bitch from "AHHHH REAL MONTERS" (remember that weak ass cartoon?). Anyways he gave me some long ass Adidas shorts and a sleeveless Lindbergh High shirt (I went to a county school 6-8th grade named Sperreng Middle and the High School was Lindbergh where Shane's big brother went). So I'm dressed out looking like a damn fool, but wasn't tripping because I was able to get my dress out points. "Damn I still have on my 15s!" Pacing around the locker room hard as hell, Dotson looks at me "Octavius (all the white people called me by my middle name in middle school including my teachers)...what the hell is wrong with you?" I couldn't tell this white boy the real reason. I was going bonkers! <<<#greatword. He would think to call me all the "niggers" and sh*t because I didn't want to bust down my kicks. I ended up telling him anyway. This may have been the longest blank stare in history between a black and white guy. He asked me if I was joking andI kindly replied back "F*CK NO!". I spent $108 on them joints! What the hell was he thinking?? I couldn't do any other activity other than duck walk in them mother f*ckers. He chuckled and said "Well I don't have any extra gym shoes for you to wear so what are you going to do?" Only thing I was thinking about was beating the shit outta him even though he helped me out but its the fact of what I knew he was thinking about me and him thinking the shit was funny. I replied back: "Well it depends on what we doing today in class." GOD HAD TO BE ON MY SIDE THAT DAY. I also forgot it was cardio week and that day happened to be the 50 meter dash. Oh yes..I knew I had that shit in the bag. 1st off, we all know (if you a true nigga) Black dudes run faster bare foot (am i fucking lying? can I get a witness!) And most of the white dudes were out of shape expect Shane, so I knew he was my only competition. There was a total of 30 kids (all dudes) in my gym class and we were broken down in groups of 6. Of course I ended up being in the group with Shane so I had to get in my Michael Johnson mode (for the f*ck heads who don't no who MJ is click here ). As we lined up, I started to untie my shoes. Coach H (gym teacher was also the football coach) screamed at me "Octavius why are untying your shoes??" Nervous as f*ck I yelled back: "My shoes are snug and they hurt when I run in them." Ha! I was really telling him the truth (little did he know) but lying at the same time. Once I got them shits off it was on and cracking. I was super nervous man. I had to win this race. #REASON 1 because I was the only black dude in my group.. #REASON 2 Shane just knew he was going to win because he was so slim and had long ass daddy long legs, and #REASON 3 I was fucking bare foot! What nigga you know lost a foot race bare foot? Plz bring that nigga to me so I can personally beat his ass for disgracing the black race. As the race was about to start, everyone was getting their last minute stretches in...I was damn near praying lol. At that moment all I could hear and see was my gym teacher dropping his flag and saying "go" at the top of his lungs. I couldn't believe how fast I took off. You would have thought CUJO was chasing me and I was running for dear life! I closed my eyes right before the finish line hoping them f*ckers were behind me...F*CK YEA! They were and Shane big slow ass was damn near last. I damn near passed out forgetting I had asthma and not puffing my inhaler before the race, yet I still came off on top.

Life is funny, I didn't realize until this week that I'm going to present my clothes in MY FIRST FASHION SHOW. and I won't be there! I have a conference in Texas (on the $hool's wallet). So a friend of mine offered to Represent my brand at the show.

I sent her the mood boards and style sheets so that she gets the look correct, which I'm sure she will do fine. My look is a hard one to mistake, hopefully you are starting to see my niche as well. I guess I'm going to do about 6 looks, and i wanted the majority of the models to have on bowties.

I usually make the REAL kind you have to tie but I know that every one doesn't like to put forth the effort, and because I won't be there to fix the Perfect-Imperfect knots I opted for the fixed bow-ties.

I definitely look up to this guy now and he is close to half my age. I usually don't care much about celebrity children and their ability to buy whatever they see in a magazine.

Diggy is different. He not only can afford the clothes, but he understands and appreciates high fashion. With that said, I have followed him from his start till now. He has become accepted amongst the fashion elite and has gained spots on the front row of many shows

Now I must admit, I haven't really followed Timberland for real since dudes were rocking the 6 inch wheat joints back in high school. But with the introduction of models like the EarthKeeper and collaborations with some dope menswear brands like below, Timberland has stepped their image up past the simple work boot stigma that it used to have. The collaboration with Rag & Bone was a definite win in my book, a good sturdy boot with classic and subtle styling. The bottom two definitely caught my out of the bunch, but truthfully I'm feeling all of them.

So seeing as I have the all the movie channels and no regular cable channels bootleg) I had to watch bad girls the day after everyone #CharterOnDemand it wasn't as interesting as I wanted but it is always good to see breastess jumbling and fists flying.

Anyway I decided to "finish" my test duffle, I wanted to practice this shape out to see how it works and I learned alot.

The Fabric is great! , The Straps are too short and thick,

The piping is not just for decor it gives the bag shape [ thats why it's floppy and frumpy]

Add a zipper and a shoulder straps and "WE IN DURR"
The Actual product that will be used in the real world outside my Atelier will be constructed with greater detail, craftsmanship, and functionality. Continuous trial and error is how the best products get to the top of the market.

LV, Moncler, and Tanner goods are expensive because of the work and quality that goes into them, not the hype[beast].

13-year-old fashion phenom Tavi has got my gears grinding again. I was cruising through her blog the other day and found a few of her fashion collages. I use to be big on collages....portraying my loves & wants through random a$$ art....Perfect thing for a random a$$ chick! Thanks to Tavi, I am about to get back to what I do. The walls of my room are about to turn into big random splatters of magazine pieces. My mama is going to complain, but at least I will feel good inside...and that's all that matters :)

Peat & Kevin & Stan is a one week exhibition organized by independent curator Wendi Elmore. Featuring the latest work of St. Louis’s own Peat Wollaeger, Kevin McCoy, and Stan Chisholm, each of these artists expands beyond their reputable mediums to enter another dimension of their artistic development. The show is on view throughout the Syndicate gallery spaces from March 12-20, 2010.

Peat Wollaeger (aka stenSOUL) Drawing and painting ever since he was a kid, Peat started doing commercial art in the 90’s and continued for almost a decade, creating urban designs for such clients as Coca-Cola, R. J. Reynolds, Anheuser Busch and some lesser evils. Burned out with the graphic arts scene and not creating any personal art, he moved back to St. Louis to raise his family and started using stencils and spray paint to reproduce his illustrations, now his medium of choice.

Internationally known for his signature EYEZ, raw colorful characters and stencil videos. Peat's work was recently seen at Art Basel Miami (BRKLYN/MIA), Art Beats and Lyrics in DC, Green Day's "the ART of Rock" at Stolen Space Gallery in London and possibly a wall near you.

Kevin McCoy is a mixed media artist born and raised in St. Louis. After receiving his BFA in graphic design and communications he acquired the skills of screen-printing, letterpress design, and mixed media, which has served him existentially in his artistic development.

He has since then exhibited his work in several galleries often blending several interests such as modern art, mixed media, and graphic design to create unique pieces. He also enjoys architectural design and is exploring ways to combine that aesthetic with his newfound passion for typography. Kevin now shares his knowledge as a teacher at St. Louis’s own Craft Alliance.

Stan Chisholm (a.k.a. 18andCounting) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist from St. Louis, Missouri who studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His collages, drawings, and mixed media installations reveal a growing cast of over 700 characters or mascots that serve as a visual lexicon for the moods, personal attributes or feelings explored in his work.

Chisholm’s work has been exhibited at Laumeier Sculpture Park, City Museum (St. Louis), and the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis. His most recent show, ThingsThatNeverReallyHappened is still on view at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago, IL until June 6, 2010.
